"When I was a kid - see, I grew up in a company town - things were different. Everyone knew their jobs, their roles, and they did what needed to be done. For the good of the company, for the good of the community. Most people worked in the mine, or the processing plant; they made the company rich, and that money went back into the community. Afforded us things like... like candy stores and soda bars, and a cinema. We did our part to keep the company healthy, the company did their part to keep us happy. I don't know when that changed. When Americans stopped caring about the greater good, started caring about having more. Somewhere along the line we lost sight of those values.

See, that's what I think really happened here. Americans forgot about what really mattered, and it's that sickness that caused this mess. Just look around us - what is this mall if not a monument to greed? Well, not anymore. Now it's our home. Our haven. Our own little slice of Americana. And I'll be damned if I let any of those degenerates out there take that away from us."

Roleplay Guide

  • Franklin grew up in a company town in Ohio, and as such was instilled with a strong work ethic at an early age.
  • He appreciates those who work to benefit the community, and shames those who work against it.

(Franklin believes that the world above is either gone, or else abandoned the people of the underground to their fate. In either case this means that the Mall may be the only chance for safety the Dwellers have, and he will fight fiercely, to protect his people and the life they've created.

  • He worked to recreate the Mall in the image of his American Dream - a slice of Americana reminiscent of the world of his youth. He believes that the image they emulate will better motivate the Dwellers to fight for their livelihood, and remind them of what they live for.

General Characteristics

  • Loyal: Will do anything in his power to protect the people of the Mall.
  • Vindictive: But those who would jeopardize or abandon the dream will be exiled with no mercy.
  • Charismatic: A skilled negotiator and smooth-talker, able to iron out any disputes among the Dwellers with his calm words and a smile.
  • Industrious: Believes in hard work and rewards it gladly.
  • Well-educated: Afforded a good education in his youth, he is a well learned man with a breadth of knowledge. And what he doesn't know himself, he'll often have a book at hand to fill the blank.
  • Gregarious: Loves to take the time to stop and chat with his neighbours, and regularly invites guests to his home.
